Are We Doing Paid Now?
Depends On Your Commitment.
My beloved friends. From the internet. We have been dating casually now for about 2.8 months and it’s been really great. Really.
But: I would like to make things a bit more serious. I feel really good about our relationship, I am really enjoying my time with you and from what I hear, you feel the same. Therefore: This newsletter will now enter it’s paywall era. That means that 3/4 of the articles of the month will have the cost of a flat white with oat milk in an urban city of your choice, and 1/4 will continue to be free.
Why though?
I really meant it when I said in the beginning: I aim to create a community of dedicated internet friends, a great hotel lobby with a restaurant, a bar, and cool rooms in HOTEL AMORE INC. where we talk about great travels, fashion and life. I feel better doing that for a (committed) community of internet strangers and internet friends. It feels strange sharing my well-kept fashion & vintage secrets, best furniture pieces and places and travel hot spots which I have spend months to find, as well as opening up with some more personal thoughts. Not wanting to hang out with strangers is one of the reasons why I don’t like Instagram so much anymore and want to spend more time here. I see the monetary exchange as a sign of “I am committed to us as Internet Friends for longer than 29 days”.
Plus, the contribution in sum allows me to take aside time <to research, compare, take pictures, transfer pictures from my phone to my computer, write, edit etc> from my fulltime freelance job and not feel bad about it. It allows me to share my secret sources of inspiration ranging from really good books (that I have read) to hawt travel tips (from places I’ve been to or researched) to fashion as in outfits and products (that I have purchased or sourced), great designer and interior vintage deals (that I have researched) and also, from time to time, a high quality joke here and there (that I have thought about for possibly years). I only want to show you highly curated things I really like, so you’ll never see any discount codes or whatever here. This Friday for example I will launch the big black book on Mexico City, starting with restaurants, which I am really excited to share!
You now had a taste of what we could be (close internet friends) if you choose us. I love us and I am hopeful you to see a future in our conscious commitment too. There will always be one free article per month which will also be good, so you can still enjoy HOTEL AMORE INC. in a way :)
As a note, I myself am subscribed to about ten paid newsletters (with individual monthly rates ranging from 5-10€), as well as subscriptions with Puck, Business of Fashion, Vogue Business, New York Times and ZEIT. I think paying for content that you like is money well spent!
