Hello my dear Internet Friends,

I hope you are doing well. I am currently in the planning of the next months with exciting takeovers for HOTEL AMORE - I love so much to get in touch with people from around the world from New York, Colorado, Sydney, Copenhagen - who are opening their world to me. I am so much looking forward to introduce you to these inspirational people who have build their own businesses, have incredible taste and style in the coming newsletter editions.

What To Do This Week

Berlin has an amazing, new place, additionally to my now beloved Pinci which opened recently by my friend Manu Pinciroli. “The other” new hot spot in town is called Pluto, a bar with fantastic bar food by Soeren Zuppke and Vadim Otto Ursus Henselder who you might know from the iconic restaurants otto and trio. The beautiful space, which just opened in the previous apartamento magazine offices, was designed by a very newly founded Athens and Berlin-based interior design duo called kóre projects, who are very talented friends of mine. Pluto looks so well designed, while being very cosy - with some of my favorite Bocci lamps on the wall <3

The new Pluto

It’s such a special and warm feeling to be able to go to restaurants and places owned by your friends. Going in at any point in the day, hang out alone at the bar, you know everyone, maybe you even have a tab, have your “regulars” table... Having this means home to me, and I think there is no better way to spend my money than to support my friends and their businesses!

Speaking of, unfortunately I couldn’t accompany my husband Rory, his business partner Julius, his wife Laura and their baby to Mexico City for the Art Fair this year. The gallery Super Super Markt is exhibiting at Material together with the Mexico-based art gallery Llano for the first time and I am so proud of them! If you ever have the chance to go to CDMX during the art week, you should - I have done this twice now for the past two years, and it has always been an absolute blast. The city which is incredible anyways is really buzzing, you can see amazing art, meet very interesting people, go to great restaurants…highly, highly recommended. I wrote two travel guides for CDMX, one on hotels, museums, galleries, shops etc. and one on restaurants - if you are interesting, you’ll find them behind those links.

What To Buy This Week

William Fan

This week was the 10-year-anniversary of one of my favorite Berlin-based designers, William Fan. He showed his 20th collection at the beautiful location Berlin Philharmonic, followed by a beautiful piano concert and party later in the evening. I thought the cast was fantastic: It included iconic people such as Kirsten Landwehr from my favorite Château Royal, Kristiane Kegelmann, who owns the restaurant pars and pars Pralinen, “Jo Gerner”, from the soap opera “Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten” (great title: “Good times, Bad Times”) which all German millennials watched 20 years ago, entertainer Bruce Darnell and the amazing Maria Hunstig, Features Director at Vogue Germany. If you come to Berlin, you should visit William Fan’s beautiful store FAN PLAZA in Berlin-Mitte, with green-marble like floor and his amazing collection.

William kindly lent me a really beautiful, stunning floor-length coat, a really beautiful pearl bag and earrings from his archive collection for the show. I really love his pieces, they are really stand-out works of art which make you feel very special.

Juliana Salazar x Asics

Creative Director and stylist Juliana Salazar collaborated for a sneaker with Asics: I think this is such a clever move of the brand, creating a shoe not with a classic influencer, but with a very credible person of influence from our industry, who has a strong creative voice and as it seems, was able to also shape the entire communication around it too. I don’t know Juliana so well, we got to know each other on a walk in LA before Covid and dm sometimes - but from afar what I feel is that this collaboration felt very “her” and I wish more brands would do this kind of thing.

Hotel Corazon Merch

Hotel Corazon is now selling merch, some of it is cute! I sadly haven’t been to Mallorca since years, but if I did, Corazon would definitely be on my list. The hotel just looks like a dream, I really like the stand-out visual universe they created.

What to Read and Listen to This Week:

  • Do you follow and subscribe to the Substacks of

    Miranda July
    and
    Ottessa Moshfegh
? Two brilliant authors worth subscribing to

  • I told you about the book From Here To The Great Unknown by Riley Keough, the daughter of Lisa Marie Presley last week. I started reading it on Tuesday this week and finished it yesterday, it’s so good and easy to read. Worth noting, I also cried at the end. I am usually finding it very hard to read when I am in my day-to-day, so if I manage to do that it means a lot (the Andy Warhol memoir is not finished yet sadly!).

  • I am a great Lanzarote-lover and will go there soon. I loved looking through this beautiful series by Hamburg-based photographer, David Alrath about Lanzarote-based artist, sculptor and architect from Lanzarote César Manrique who built the most incredible buildings on the island between the 60s and 80s.

  • This week a new episode dropped on Bella Freud’s Fashion Neurosis featuring Cate Blanchett - I will definitely listen to it! I love the voice of Bella Freud, it’s so calming
